Qld Small Business Grants coming up!

Some welcome news for QLD small business owners as QLD Government announces three upcoming grants to help small biz continue to recover, grow and thrive post COVID-19. Worth $25million over two years, these grants will be extremely beneficial for many small businesses:

Business Basics Grant

Updated with the latest information on 26th August 2021.

Queensland Government has announced another round for eligible small businesses based in regional Queensland - Applications open on 8th September! 

This program offers grants of up to $5,000 to support business increase core skills and adopt best practice. It's focusing on five key areas:

  1. Training and Coaching - Business development, marketing, human resources or business planning topics
  2. Website build or upgrades - Website build or upgrade (including website refresh), adding e-commerce, developing new website content
  3. Professional business advice - Business plans
  4. Strategic marketing services - Strategic marketing plans including search engine optimisation advice
  5. Business continuity and succession - Business continuity or succession plans, cybersafety training and tools

To be eligible for this grant, your business must:

  • not have been approved for funding under Round 1 of the Business Basics Grants program 
  • have fewer than 20 employees (by head count) at the time of applying for the grant 
  • have an active Australian Business Number (ABN) and be registered for GST 
  • have a Queensland headquarters, and be based in regional Queensland (use the eligibility tool to check your location)
  • have a turnover of $300,000 or less for the last financial year (2020–21) have owners or directors that are not insolvent or an undischarged bankrupt.

Business Growth Fund

Applications open 11th May 2021

The Business Growth Fund (BGF) targets high-growth businesses that can accelerate growth, drive Queensland's economy and employ more Queenslanders. Grants up to $50,000 to allow businesses to buy highly specialised equipment to seize and accelerate growth opportunities, increase production, expand your workforce and maximise economic returns.

Funded businesses are expected to:

  • increase confidence for growth, transitioning from small to medium-sized
  • increase productivity, turnover, profit and employment by 20%
  • improve confidence to automate, scale up, increase market share, diversify and/or exploit exporting opportunities.

A grant this size does attract some set eligibility criteria and strict application process. Make sure you check out the full eligibility criteria, must haves (for example, you need a business plan and access to finance) and application process by clicking here.

Business Boost Grant

Applications open late July 2021 (Dates TBA)

There's not a lot of information out there yet, we will update as July gets closer, but this grants up to $15,000 to help small businesses to improve their efficiency and productivity through organisational development and upgrades through automated software and CRM systems. Grants can be used for website development and upgrades, strategic marketing, training and coaching, advisory services, and planning for business continuity and succession.
